"The International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) is a higher education and research institution located in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Its missions are to:
- train competent and innovative engineer-entrepreneurs in Africa who are capable of responding to the continent's development challenges;
- offer continuing professional development options to managers and technicians in private and public sectors;
- conduct research and development programmes for private and public sectors and contribute to the development of scientific knowledge.
Its areas of expertise are:
- Water, Sanitation and Hydro-Agricultural Engineering,
- Electrical and Energy Engineering,
- Civil Engineering,
- Artificial Intelligence and Applications,
- Entrepreneurship and Management.
The 2iE Institute is ISO 9001 v 2015 quality certified and recognised as a Center of Excellence by NEPAD, UEMOA, ECOWAS and World Bank. Its degrees are accredited by CAMES and the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI in France) with the Eurace label. The 2iE Institute has been accredited at the institutional level by the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES in France). 2iE is a member of prestigious networks such as the Network for Excellence in Higher Education in West Africa (REESAO), the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) and the Network of Excellence in Engineering Sciences of the Francophonie (RESCIF).
Sinc 2010, 2iE has been implementing a sustainability approach based on reference frameworks such as United Nations Global Compact, Sustainable Development Goals and Global Reporting Initiatives GRI G4 standards; it is also a member of the Burkina Faso CSR Forum. The aim is to green and improve the quality of life at work and on its campuses while contributing to the positive transformation of the regions. The institute publishes an annual sustainability report, regularly assesses its CO2 emissions and has implemented policies on circularity, biodiversity and responsible procurement."
