About Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar

Makassar Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Makassar) is a higher education institution under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, dedicated to producing competent and globally competitive professionals in the field of tourism.

Established in 1991, Poltekpar Makassar has evolved from the Tourism Education and Training Center (BPLP) to the Tourism Academy (AKPAR), and finally became the Makassar Tourism Polytechnic in 2015. The institution holds an “UNGGUL” accreditation status from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and offers eight leading study programs that are industry-oriented and competency-based.

Poltekpar Makassar’s journey began with the establishment of BPLP Ujung Pandang on September 18, 1991, initiated by Ir. Yonathan L. Parapak (then Secretary General of the Ministry of Post, Tourism, and Telecommunications) and Prof. Dr. Ahmad Amiruddin (Governor of South Sulawesi), with Drs. I Wayan Bendhi as its first director. Over time, the institution expanded its diploma programs and collaborated with international partners such as British Council, JICA, AUSAID, and Alliance Française, enhancing the quality of education and faculty capacity.

Today, Poltekpar Makassar stands as a center of excellence for tourism education in Eastern Indonesia. With its modern campus facilities, competency-based curriculum, and strong industry linkages, the Polytechnic is committed to fostering innovation, professionalism, and sustainable tourism development, aligning with Indonesia’s vision to strengthen human resources in the global tourism industry.
