About Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Fatah Palembang
Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Fatah Palembang (UIN RFP) is located in Palembang, the Capital of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Known as the oldest city in Indonesia which founded on June 16, 682 AD and one of the malay civilization centers in Sumatra. Referring to this situation, UIN RFP prescribed the university as a Center for Islamic Malay Studies in Indonesia. UIN RFP was established in 1963 as State Islamic Institute (IAIN). Based on Presidential Decree Number 129 of 2014, the status officially changed into State Islamic University (UIN). UIN RFP vision is "to become a university with international quality, sense of nationalism, and Islamic character by 2040". The 124.5 hectare of campus area is divided into Campus A, B (Palembang), and Campus C (Ogan Ilir Regency), which covers an area about 6.5, 15, and 103 hectares respectively. It has a retention basin, water drainage system, creeks and varied tree plants that symbolize the concept of a green and sustainable campus. The areas are dominated by a natural environment with various ecological functions that must be maintained as well as used for the campus’s activities. UIN RFP has 19,960 students in 2022 at nine faculties and one postgraduate departement, with a variety of study areas, including islamic studies, education, social and humanities, and science and technology. Currently, the university offers opportunities for study in 47 undergraduate and graduate majors, 30% of which have received an “A†accreditation from the Board of National Accreditation for Higher Education (BAN-PT). UIN RFP alumni network has spread throughout Indonesia as islamic specialist, educators, researchers, and government officer as well as entrepreneurs and social workers. The capacity and collaboration of the entire academic community can properly actualize UIN RFP objectives to be a sustainable and competitive university globally.
