About Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta
Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, formerly Yogyakarta Institute of Teacher Education and Educational Sciences or IKIP Yogyakarta, was established on May 21, 1964. It is a public university located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. UNY main campus in Karangmalang occupies 514.562 m2 of the site, and becomes one of the leading universities in educational fields. UNY has four other campuses in Yogyakarta, including Mandala campus, Bantul campus, Wates campus, and Gunung Kidul campus. UNY has strengthened its international acknowledgement in QS World University Ranking 301-350 by Subject of Education and Training in 2020. It has over 32,625 students in its seven faculties and school, including Faculty of Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Sport Sciences, and Graduate School. There are 71 bachelor, 32 master, and 7 doctoral study programs. As one of the most respectable universities in Indonesia, UNY ranks 12th among more than 4000 universities in Indonesia. UNY always leads to focus on and improves learning, teaching, and research activities by offering outstanding facilities and services, including digital library, sport centre, counselling centre, the health care centre, convention hall and performance stages, post office, and physical therapy clinic. To support environmental sustainability, UNY is committed to be green campus in 2017 by facilitating free commuter busses and shuttles as students transportation between campuses, and providing comfortable pedestrian and public bike inside the campus. UNY has also applied efficient energy appliances and smart building system. BIOPA fertilizer, water reservoir, alternative fuel from oil waste, and variety of education, research, and student organizations related environment sustainability practices are among the efforts to significantly reinforce eco-friendly policies and promote academic community positive wellbeing in UNY. In 2020, UNY successfully gained UI GM ranked 28 in Indonesia.
