UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi Strengthens Sustainability Strategy Ahead of UI GreenMetric 2027
BUKITTINGGI, INDONESIA, 8 October 2026 – UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi is strengthening its commitment to sustainable campus development through a capacity-building programme designed to improve its readiness for the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2027.
The initiative builds on the university’s participation in the UI GreenMetric and its efforts to implement sustainability recommendations across campus. It aims to review progress, identify areas for improvement and develop practical strategies to strengthen the university’s sustainability performance.
The programme focuses on several challenges identified during the 2026 ranking submission process, including understanding the indicators, ensuring data accuracy, preparing supporting evidence, improving coordination between university units and clarifying the responsibilities of each person in charge. Strengthening documentation and monitoring systems is also a priority.

Beyond preparing ranking submissions, the initiative aims to integrate sustainability into university policies, governance, infrastructure, education, research, community engagement and academic culture. This approach recognises that a sustainable university requires consistent institutional commitment, not simply the completion of an annual assessment.
The programme will also provide an opportunity to review the implementation of previous recommendations and discuss strategies for improving performance across the UI GreenMetric indicators. Particular attention will be given to data validation, evidence management, indicator mapping and the development of clear responsibilities for each participating unit.
A key expected outcome is a practical action plan for UI GreenMetric 2027. This will include mapping indicators to responsible units, identifying gaps based on the 2026 results, strengthening data and evidence systems, and establishing a roadmap for further improvements.

Through this collaboration, UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi aims to make sustainability a shared responsibility across the university. By improving institutional coordination and turning evaluation results into concrete action, the university seeks to strengthen its sustainability performance while improving campus management and environmental practices.
The initiative reflects the broader purpose of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings: helping universities assess their sustainability efforts, identify opportunities for improvement and translate their commitments into measurable progress. For UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi, the road to 2027 is an opportunity to build a greener, more sustainable and more competitive university through continuous improvement.
