SOUTH TANGERANG, Indonesia, 25 June 2026 — UI GreenMetric successfully participated as a strategic partner in the 2026 Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC), held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, South Tangerang, from 22 to 25 June 2026. The prestigious congress brought together university leaders, policymakers, industry representatives, and sustainability practitioners from around the world to accelerate collaborative action towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Throughout the congress, the UI GreenMetric exhibition booth served as a dynamic hub, welcoming hundreds of global delegates for meaningful discussions on campus sustainability, global benchmarking, and institutional impact. Visitors engaged in deep dialogues regarding the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings methodology and participated in an interactive Sustainability Quiz designed to help institutions discover their campus sustainability profile. Alongside the Sustainability Quiz, many visitors also participated in other sustainability-themed games. UI GreenMetric also gave out souvenirs made of recycled or reused materials that shows UI GreenMetric’s Support for the concept of a circular economy and practical sustainability.

On the opening day, the booth was highly honored to welcome Leonardo Adypurnama Teguh Sambodo, S.P., M.S., Ph.D., Deputy for Food, Natural Resources, and Environment at Indonesia's Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), whose visit underscored the vital importance of data-driven transformation across higher education. Seizing this global momentum, UI GreenMetric also actively reminded participating universities to submit their data before the 2026 Questionnaire submission deadline on 30 June 2026.

The core mission of UI GreenMetric was strongly reflected through the active participation of Prof. Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, who served as a featured speaker in two pivotal panel sessions during the congress.

First, in the session "Metrics to Meaning: How Universities Turn Sustainability Data into Strategy" held at the DataLabs Stand, Prof. Vishnu addressed how higher education institutions can transmute raw environmental data into meaningful institutional strategy and robust governance frameworks. He emphasized that credible metrics should move beyond mere administrative reporting toward real strategic impact and institutional survival.

Following this, on Day 3 of the congress, Prof. Vishnu took the stage at Garuda 6 for the panel "Net Zero in Action: Industry-University Partnerships Driving Sustainable Transformation." In this session, he reflected UI GreenMetric’s vision on how robust alliances between universities and industrial sectors can fast-track practical, scalable solutions. He highlighted that bridging the gap between academic research and industry operations is essential to integrating net-zero strategies into real-world business decisions and supply chains. Through both sessions, Prof. Vishnu fundamentally reaffirmed UI GreenMetric's core mandate: driving institutional accountability and turning empirical tracking into concrete climate action.

As the congress moved into its final days, the momentum at the booth remained strong with continuous exchanges on localized metrics and green campus infrastructure. The UI GreenMetric team also visited the booth of Sunway University, Malaysia's national coordinator for the network, reinforcing shared regional commitments. By Day 4, the delegation, represented by Prof. Vishnu Juwono and Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A., Vice-Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, successfully wrapped up the event with strategic planning for the network's next global steps.

UI GreenMetric extends its deepest appreciation to the organizers, partners, speakers, and delegates who connected with the network during GSDC 2026. The event once again demonstrated that systemic, cross-sectoral collaboration remains the cornerstone of definitive global progress and institutional accountability.
