Strengthening Global Alliances UI GreenMetric and Termez State University Convene in Dushanbe for a Sustainable Future

Dushanbe, 16 April 2026, In the heart of Dushanbe, amidst the transformative atmosphere of the UI GreenMetric International Conference, a pivotal meeting between academic leaders marked a small yet significant step toward a collective sustainable future. Held at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan (IUTE), this encounter transcended a simple diplomatic exchange, serving as a powerful testament to the role of institutional collaboration in addressing global environmental challenges. This dialogue underscored the belief that the journey toward a greener planet is paved by intentional, focused partnerships between universities dedicated to systemic change.

The meeting highlighted the profound commitment of both UI GreenMetric and Termez State University (TerSU) to advancing sustainability through high-impact, tangible initiatives. As a pioneer in regional sustainability within Uzbekistan, Termez State University has demonstrated remarkable progress in transitioning to low-carbon campus operations, notably through the development of a 1,000-kilowatt photovoltaic power facility. Their dedication is further reinforced by their leadership in the national "Yashil Makon" (Green Space) initiative and their specialized research in water conservation and desertification. These efforts align seamlessly with the global sustainability frameworks championed by UI GreenMetric, ensuring that environmental stewardship is integrated into the core of institutional governance, infrastructure, and community outreach.

Representing Termez State University was Gofur Togaev, Vice Rector of International Relations, who engaged in a strategic dialogue with the UI GreenMetric delegation. The delegation was led by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, accompanied by Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A., Vice Chairperson, and Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si, Manager of Program, Partnerships & Communications. Together, these leaders explored pathways for deeper institutional engagement and the continued expansion of sustainable practices across the Central Asian academic landscape.

As the global higher education community continues to navigate the complexities of the climate crisis, the success of such collaborative efforts offers a clear path forward.
