UI GreenMetric Hosts 11th Regional Information Session for Indonesian Universities to Foster Sustainable Practices in Indonesia
On May 7, 2026, UI GreenMetric successfully held its 11th Regional Information Session, bringing together more than 100 universities from across Indonesia in a discussion centered on sustainable campus development. Conducted entirely in Bahasa Indonesia, the session served as a strategic platform for higher education institutions to deepen their understanding of the implementation of sustainability through governance, digitalization, and integrated institutional performance.
The event commenced with opening remarks delivered by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric. In his remarks, Dr. Vishnu emphasized the growing importance of sustainability within higher education institutions, particularly as universities face increasingly complex environmental and social challenges. He highlighted the role of universities not only as centers of education and research, but also as catalysts for sustainable transformation within society.
The session was moderated by Muhamad Ferdy Firmansyah, S.E., M.Sc., Program Partnership Officer of UI GreenMetric, who also acted as the Master of Ceremonies throughout the event. The first presentation was delivered by Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si., Manager of Program, Partnerships & Communications of UI GreenMetric, who introduced participants to the broader framework and objectives of UI GreenMetric. Her presentation focused on how sustainability indicators can support universities in developing long-term institutional strategies while strengthening collaboration and engagement among stakeholders.
The QnA session was led by Dr. Jauzak Hussaini W., S.Kom., M.T., Data & Research Coordinator of UI GreenMetric, who provided participants with a more technical overview of data management, assessment indicators, and research-based approaches within the UI GreenMetric framework. The presentation highlighted the importance of accurate and integrated data collection in measuring campus sustainability performance and supporting evidence-based policy development.
The 11th Regional Information Session reflects UI GreenMetric’s continued commitment to expanding sustainability awareness and capacity-building efforts among Indonesian universities. By facilitating dialogue and knowledge sharing at the national level, UI GreenMetric continues to encourage higher education institutions to integrate sustainability principles into governance, operations, education, and research. Through initiatives like this, universities across Indonesia increasingly position themselves to contribute actively toward the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the broader global sustainability movement.
