DUSHANBE, TAJIKISTAN – On June 2, 2026, UI GreenMetric successfully held its 12th Regional Information Session in collaboration with the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan (IUTET). The session brought together higher education institutions from across Tajikistan to discuss strategies for advancing sustainable campus development through governance, digitalization, and integrated institutional performance. Conducted primarily in the Tajik language, the event provided an accessible platform for participants to deepen their understanding of sustainability implementation within the context of higher education in Tajikistan.

The session commenced with welcoming remarks delivered by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, and Prof. Dr. Zulfiya Mahmadnabi Qurbonzoda, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Quality Management of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan. Both speakers emphasized the growing importance of sustainability in higher education and highlighted the role of universities as key contributors to sustainable development through effective governance, innovation, and institutional transformation.

The event was moderated by Dr. Gulshan Bodurova, Deputy Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, who expertly guided participants throughout the program and facilitated discussions among representatives from universities across the country.

The main presentation was delivered by Prof. Farhod Sharofzoda, Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan. His presentation explored sustainability challenges and opportunities within the Tajik higher education sector, highlighting the importance of integrating sustainable development principles into university governance, academic activities, and institutional planning. He also discussed regional perspectives and strategies that can support universities in strengthening their contributions to sustainable development.

The QnA session was led by Rahmi, S.Hum., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development of UI GreenMetric. Rahmi introduced participants to the UI GreenMetric framework and provided an overview of the latest developments in the 2026 methodology. The presentation highlighted the growing importance of governance, digitalization, and integrated performance in measuring institutional sustainability. Participants also gained insights into sustainability tracking mechanisms, data management practices, and strategies for improving sustainability performance through evidence-based decision-making.

During the interactive discussion session, participants engaged in a dynamic Q&A regarding the practical implementation of sustainability initiatives, data collection processes, and reporting mechanisms within the UI GreenMetric framework. The discussion emphasized the importance of accurate and transparent data management, cross-departmental collaboration, and continuous institutional improvement in achieving long-term sustainability goals.

The 12th Regional Information Session reflects UI GreenMetric’s continued commitment to expanding sustainability awareness and strengthening institutional capacity among universities worldwide. By collaborating with the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan and conducting the session primarily in Tajik, UI GreenMetric continues to foster knowledge sharing, regional engagement, and international cooperation. The event successfully provided universities in Tajikistan with valuable insights into sustainable campus governance, digitalization in sustainability tracking, integrated performance management, and the latest updates to the 2026 UI GreenMetric methodology, further supporting their efforts to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
