UI GreenMetric Socializes Sustainable Corporate Rankings to Accelerate Corporate ESG Transformation
JAKARTA, 23 July 2026 — Marking a major milestone in its expansion beyond higher education and urban evaluation, UI GreenMetric hosted the official launch and online socialization of the UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings virtually today. The event united sustainability practitioners, academics, financial leaders, and the public, sparking constructive dialogue on the practical opportunities and challenges of driving ESG implementation across Indonesia.
This strategic expansion comes at a critical time when sustainability is actively redefining global business, placing increasing pressure on companies to balance financial performance with environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sound governance. Responding to this shift, UI GreenMetric has translated over a decade of global benchmarking expertise into the corporate sphere by introducing a dedicated platform designed to help corporations measure, benchmark, and advance their ESG performance through clear, transparent, and actionable indicators.
Opening the event, Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, emphasized that tackling complex sustainability issues requires strong cross-sector collaboration. He underscored the pivotal role private enterprises play in advancing sustainable development through proactive environmental care, ethical governance, and social accountability, noting that the new rankings offer a practical framework for companies to evaluate and elevate their impact.
The initiative received strong support from Dr. R. Joko Siswanto, S.E., M.Sc., S.H., M.H., Director of Sustainable Finance at Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK). In his key presentation, he highlighted the urgency of strengthening Indonesia’s sustainable finance ecosystem, noting that ESG principles have become foundational to corporate governance and long-term value creation.
Adding an academic perspective, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Veronica Nalurita Purnama Siregar, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., CSRS., CSRA., Secretary of the Board of Professors at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI), addressed how robust ESG governance enhances accountability, sharpens decision-making, and meets growing public demand for corporate transparency.
The session culminated in a detailed walkthrough of the ranking methodology by Rahmi, S.Hum., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development at UI GreenMetric. Designed as a comprehensive benchmarking tool, the methodology relies on measurable indicators that enable companies to pinpoint operational gaps, increase transparency, and build a culture of continuous improvement.
An engaging interactive discussion followed, with participants exchanging views on Indonesia’s evolving ESG landscape, sustainable finance policy developments, and the practical implementation of the new metrics.
Through the UI GreenMetric Sustainable Corporate Rankings, UI GreenMetric reinforces its commitment to advancing sustainability assessment while bridging academia, industry, and government. The framework aims to empower businesses to boost their global competitiveness, drive meaningful ESG progress, and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
