UI GreenMetric Strengthens Media Collaboration through Visit to Republika
UI GreenMetric, in its continued commitment to advancing a sustainable future, is expanding collaboration beyond educational and institutional spheres to engage the broader public. To support this objective, UI GreenMetric actively fosters partnerships with credible and influential media institutions, enabling sustainability awareness and environmental responsibility to reach wider segments of society.
As part of this strategy, and following its visit to Kompas Multimedia earlier this month, UI GreenMetric conducted an official visit to the office of Republika, a prominent newspaper and media outlet with a strong presence in Indonesia’s media landscape. Republika has long covered a broad range of environmental, social, and economic issues. The visit marked an important step in strengthening institutional collaboration and is expected to amplify sustainability narratives for both national and international audiences. Through direct dialogue and engagement, both parties explored opportunities to broaden the reach and impact of sustainability communication.
As a sustainability ranking initiative originating from Universitas Indonesia, UI GreenMetric has consistently positioned higher education institutions as leaders in environmental responsibility. Its framework has developed into a global platform that evaluates universities worldwide using measurable sustainability indicators, including infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water conservation, transportation, education and research, as well as governance and digitalization.
The initiative’s mission extends beyond measurement and rankings. UI GreenMetric recognizes that data must translate into awareness, and awareness must inspire action. Sustainability achievements, innovations, and best practices should not remain confined to reports or academic forums; they must be communicated to the wider public to influence behavior, inform policy discussions, and strengthen collective responsibility. Strengthening partnerships with national media is therefore a strategic priority. By aligning sustainability expertise with professional journalism, complex environmental issues can be translated into accessible, accurate, and impactful narratives for diverse audiences.
The UI GreenMetric delegation was represented by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric; Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si., Program, Partnership, and Communications Manager; Riska Putri Hariyadi, S.IP., M.Si., Communications Coordinator; and Anin Kumala, S.Hum, Social Media Officer. The delegation met with the editorial and leadership team of Republika, namely Stevy Maradona, Deputy Editor-in-Chief; Budi Raharjo, Managing Editor; Lida Puspaningtyas, Head of the Economics Desk & ESGNow; Fitriyan Zamzami, Head of the National Desk/Republika.id; Mansyur Faqih, Head of Digital Creative; Satria Kartika Yudha, Economics Editor & ESGNow; Intan Pratiwi, Strategic & Media Planner Specialist; and Tianda Kusuma Dewi, Senior Account Executive.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to expand sustainability awareness across different layers of society. A sustainable future requires an informed and educated public that understands the consequences and impacts of environmental change. Through educational articles, in-depth reporting, and accessible storytelling, media partnerships play a vital role in transforming technical knowledge into practical and actionable public understanding.
