UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Welcomes Visit from STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman to Explore Participation in Sustainable University Rankings
UI GreenMetric World University Rankings continues to strengthen its reputation as a credible and reliable institution in advancing sustainability in higher education. On 23 February 2026, the UI GreenMetric Secretariat received an official visit from STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman, a State College of Islamic Studies located in Kepulauan Riau, western Indonesia.
The delegation from STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman was led by Dr. H. Muhammad Faisal, M.Ag, Chairperson of the institution, accompanied by Ibu Sella Kurnia Sari, M.Sc, Head of the Center for Research and Community Service (P3M), and Bapak Dwi Rio Sudarroji, M.Psi, Secretary of P3M.
They were welcomed by the representatives of UI GreenMetric, namely Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric; Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A., Vice Chairperson; Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si., Program, Partnership, and Communications Manager; and Rayhana S.Gz., Partnership and Program Coordinator. The meeting took place at the UI GreenMetric office, located at the 5th floor of the Science Tchno Park building in Universitas Indonesia.
The visit aimed to explore STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman’s participation in the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings. The institution seeks to join the ranking as part of its commitment to strengthening sustainable campus practices and in response to the direction of the Kementerian Agama Republik Indonesia to enhance sustainability initiatives within Islamic higher education institutions. Participation in the ranking is expected to help the institution systematically measure, evaluate, and improve the outcomes of its sustainability efforts.
To date, STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman has undertaken several initiatives to promote environmental responsibility, including the provision of extensive green spaces and the protection of surrounding forest areas. These efforts reflect the institution’s growing awareness of the importance of sustainable campus management.
During the meeting, the UI GreenMetric team presented an overview of the ranking framework, including its indicators, assessment methodology, and participation procedures. The discussion also covered technical aspects of registration and data submission, enabling the visiting delegation to better understand how their sustainability performance can be benchmarked against global standards.
With participation from 1,745 universities across 105 countries in the most recent cycle, the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings has become an important platform for measuring sustainability performance, sharing best practices, and encouraging continuous improvement among higher education institutions worldwide. For STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman, joining the network represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen institutional capacity while contributing to the broader global sustainability movement.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding and commitment from STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman to formally participate in the upcoming ranking cycle, marking the beginning of a constructive partnership with UI GreenMetric. This collaboration reflects a meaningful step toward advancing sustainability awareness and action within higher education, both nationally and globally.
