UI GreenMetric Visited Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro to Strengthen Collaboration on Campus Sustainability
19 June 2026 - As part of its continued commitment to advancing sustainability in higher education, UI GreenMetric conducted an official institutional visit to the Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) to strengthen international collaboration and exchange best practices in sustainable campus development. The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to share experiences and explore innovative approaches to environmental management, sustainability governance, and institutional accountability.
The visitation served as a platform for exchanging empirical insights into campus sustainability while fostering bilateral cooperation between UI GreenMetric and Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro. Through discussions and on-site observations, the visit highlighted the importance of integrating evidence-based sustainability practices into university operations, ensuring that sustainability initiatives are supported by measurable outcomes and continuous institutional improvement.
The UI GreenMetric delegation was led by Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Ph.D., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, and Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A., Vice-Chairperson of UI GreenMetric. They were welcomed by Dr. Graciella Faico Ferreira, who provided UI GreenMetric the opportunity for the visit. leadership of Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro for a series of discussions aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships and expanding international collaboration in campus sustainability. Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting sustainable development through knowledge exchange and the implementation of globally recognized sustainability frameworks.
The program commenced with a meeting between the UI GreenMetric delegation and the Vice-Rector of Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro. The discussion focused on strengthening strategic partnerships, exploring opportunities for future collaboration, and exchanging perspectives on implementing global sustainability assessment frameworks. As part of the visitation agenda, the delegation toured the University's advanced computing laboratory to observe its technological infrastructure and research capabilities. The delegation also visited the University's Horta (vegetable garden), where they learned about UFRJ's on-campus home gardening initiative while enjoying a brief informal gathering.
